PSV Eindhoven have officially agreed a deal to sign AZ Alkmaar winger Ruben van Bommel for a reported €16 million, including a 10% sell-on clause. The 19-year-old Dutchman, son of former PSV legend Mark van Bommel, is set to join the Eredivisie champions as a key addition to their attacking line-up.
The move comes in response to Noa Lang’s impending transfer to Serie A giants Napoli. PSV have viewed Van Bommel as the ideal successor for the left-wing position—offering both flair and tactical discipline. Despite earlier reports suggesting a €20 million price tag, Dutch outlet De Telegraaf confirmed the deal was finalised at a lower fee, underlining the club’s negotiation strength.
Last season, Van Bommel tallied six goals and five assists across all competitions. His performances drew interest from Lazio and Bologna, but it’s PSV who have secured his signature—showcasing their commitment to investing in top domestic talent.
PSV may not be done shopping at AZ. Sources suggest they are also tracking attacking midfielder Sven Mijnans, hinting at a deeper strategy to bolster creativity and depth in the final third.
The acquisition aligns with the club’s broader ambition to maintain domestic dominance while improving European competitiveness. Van Bommel’s arrival not only strengthens the squad tactically but adds narrative weight through his family legacy—one that PSV fans will no doubt welcome with high expectations.
