Mykhailo Mudryk has agreed to join Tottenham on loan, with the Ukrainian winger’s desire to reunite with Roberto De Zerbi — who previously coached him at Shakhtar Donetsk — driving the decision. Insider Fabrizio Romano broke the news, confirming that Mudryk has put offers from Leeds United and other clubs on hold to pursue the Spurs move.
“Mykhailo Mudryk has agreed to move to Tottenham because he wants to work under Roberto De Zerbi again. Talks with Chelsea over a loan deal are well underway,” Romano reported.
Chelsea rejected Leeds United’s offer for the winger and is focused on securing him regular playing time before the transfer window closes. That intent aligns with a loan to Spurs, provided the two clubs can resolve a structural obstacle.
The Premier League’s internal loan rules cap any squad at two players loaned from other top-flight clubs simultaneously, with a maximum of one from any single club. Tottenham also want to bring in defender Tosin Adarabioyo from Chelsea on loan, which would push the arrangement over the permitted limit if both deals proceed independently.
Romano reports that Spurs and Chelsea are actively negotiating Adarabioyo’s transfer — not a loan — as a permanent move. Adarabioyo is not part of Xabi Alonso’s plans at Chelsea, and completing a full transfer rather than a loan would sidestep the league’s restriction entirely, clearing the path for Mudryk’s arrival.
On the wider January picture at Spurs, The Athletic notes that Tottenham had been targeting reinforcements on the left side of the attack. Liverpool‘s Cody Gakpo was one name under consideration, but Romano confirms he will stay at Anfield. Everton‘s Iliman Ndiaye was another option, though he is now set to join Manchester City instead.
