Last-placed Mirage Elyandra have little to do now in the season but save face. Some things could change by the end of this week’s fixtures in terms of stats and placing on the table, but there is little doubt when we say that Mirage Elyandra have been, markedly, the worst team in the season.

They’ll play against Misfits Premier, who will be facing off against Vitality Bee on Wednesday before this fixture, and Mirage will need all the help they can get in terms of having a slightly more fragile Misfits Premier outfit to face; they’ll be hoping Vitality Bee can provide that bit of respite. Typically, if a team is in such a position, it is the sign of a huge red flag. Misfits Premier are a solid mid-table team at the moment and will be expected to manage any after-effects even if they potentially lose to Vitality Bee.
Misfits Premier have strong ambitions
It was against Mirage Elyandra that Misfits Premier actually began to turn their season around, having begun with some heavy defeats in their first three games, including at the hands of Vitality Bee. So, in context of what I’ve said earlier, another potential loss to Vitality Bee may in fact just provoke memories of that sequence they had early in the season.
Before their midweek fixtures, Misfits were on a decent streak of having won four out their last six games to bounce back from their rocky start. You’ll remember that Misfits didn’t have a spring split to be proud of earlier this year, and that will be in the back of their minds as they continue to hover in similar positions on the table as they did during that spring split. A playoffs spot will be their biggest priority right now, or they can well say their LFL efforts this year were well below-par. That is a hurtful prospect and you can expect to see an effect of that when they play against Mirage.
Mirage sinking slowly
Ahead of their midweek fixture against LDLC OL, Mirage had a win rate of 9.1% in the season. With how the rest of their metrics look – 7.4 kills per game, the lowest in the league, and a kills/death ratio of 0.55, also the lowest in the league – I don’t think they will be improving that rate, or even maintaining it.
It hasn’t helped that the team are battling a host of off-field issues now, not least the fact that Mirage’s owners are looking to offload their LFL slot ahead of next year’s competition. In a sense, Mirage’s struggles are understandable – they had to make it to the top division the hard way, through slogging in division 2, and needed some solidity to push their games to the next level. That hasn’t come in the slightest – there is uncertainty about player contracts, the structure around the team isn’t providing adequate support, and the very existence of this team in the mid-term future is a doubt at the moment. Don’t expect any overnight miracles.
