Memphis Depay Signs New Corinthians Contract Through Mid-2028 After Major Concessions

Memphis Depay will remain at Corinthians through mid-2028, with chairman Osmar Stabile confirming the deal is signed. The agreement comes after a turbulent week that saw the extension collapse at the last moment before both parties returned to the table.

Last week, the renewal appeared done until Stabile pulled the plug, citing concerns that the terms would constitute unequal treatment relative to other squad members. Memphis responded publicly with sharp criticism, stating he would not let the matter drop. ESPN then reported the Netherlands striker was pursuing a €30 million claim against the Brazilian club.

The resolution came when Memphis demonstrated willingness to make significant financial concessions. According to UOL, Corinthians still owe him €7 million, and he agreed to waive the interest accrued on that outstanding amount. He also dropped a clause that required the club to generate €2.5 million through commercial contracts tied to advertising and licensed product sales.

The most consequential concession was on wages. The former PSV and Manchester United forward had originally agreed to €9 million per year, but his representatives brought a revised offer of €7 million annually to the negotiating table.

“Everything is good. We worked hard on this deal. The amount is going down. This is the best thing for Corinthians,” Stabile said.

Sources close to the club maintain it was always Stabile’s intention to secure a new deal. Stay with TipsGG for continued coverage of Memphis Depay and Corinthians.
