After Chelsea beat Nottingham Forest 3-0 at The City Ground on 18 October 2025, manager Enzo Maresca admitted one of the club’s biggest challenges this season has been handling player minutes.
The victory was highlighted by a goal from Josh Acheampong, who Maresca singled out for his approach on the pitch.
“Managing player minutes has been a bigger issue this season because of injuries,” Maresca said. “He played with personality.”
Squad fitness, the manager suggested, has dictated selection more than usual. With knocks and niggles limiting options, rotation has become a key part of match preparation and planning.
