Manchester United have reportedly identified Angelo Stiller as a potential summer target, with VfB Stuttgart setting a valuation of around €50 million (£43.5m) for the in-demand midfielder.
According to Sky Deutschland, the 24-year-old’s strong start to the 2025–26 Bundesliga campaign has caught the attention of several European clubs, including United. Stiller has already contributed one goal and four assists in 11 appearances across all competitions, continuing his rise as one of Germany’s most complete midfielders.
Stuttgart Can Set Their Own Price Despite Release Clause
Reports suggest that Stiller’s contract includes a €40m (£34.8m) release clause, though Stuttgart retain the right to “purchase it” for an additional €2m (£1.7m), effectively allowing them to determine his market price. Given his consistent form, his value could easily climb before the end of the season—especially if he features prominently for Germany at the 2026 World Cup.
Stiller Open to Future Move Abroad
Stiller has admitted that while he is content at Stuttgart, he remains open to moving abroad in the future. Reflecting on fellow German star Florian Wirtz’s transfer to Liverpool, he told reporters:
“I’m currently not thinking about a move. Generally speaking, I’m interested in moving abroad at some point; I thought Florian Wirtz’s decision to go to Liverpool was cool. But only one thing is certain for me: at the end of my career, I absolutely want to play in the USA, in MLS. This is 100% my plan, my goal.”
Stiller was a key figure for Stuttgart last season, registering four goals and 11 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions. Since joining the club, he has amassed six goals and 21 assists in 92 matches, a reflection of his growing influence in midfield.
Would Stiller Be a Smart Move for Manchester United?
Manchester United are expected to rebuild their midfield next summer. With Casemiro’s contract expiring in 2026 and uncertainty surrounding Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte, reinforcements are likely. Captain Bruno Fernandes could also reassess his future after the World Cup, increasing the need for fresh creativity and balance in the centre of the park.
While Brighton’s Carlos Baleba remains a top target, Stiller offers a compelling alternative. His versatility allows him to operate as both a deep-lying playmaker and a transitional midfielder—a blend of control and composure that suits the Premier League’s high-tempo demands.
For a fee of €50m, Stiller represents excellent value in today’s market. His tactical intelligence, passing range, and pressing awareness would complement United’s evolving system under Erik ten Hag. However, if his current trajectory continues, Stuttgart’s valuation could rise sharply before the season ends.
