Format Breakdown: Fearless Draft Arrives

Riot Games has confirmed that Worlds 2025 will unfold across three stages, introducing the highly anticipated Fearless Draft system:

🔹 Play-In Stage

Fourth seeds from the top regions — T1 (LCK) and Invictus Gaming (LPL) — face off in a best-of-five elimination series. Only one advances to the main event.

🔹 Swiss Stage

Sixteen teams compete across five rounds. Teams need three wins to qualify or three losses to be knocked out:

  • Rounds 1–2: Best-of-one
  • Rounds 3–5: Best-of-three

Matchups are seeded to prevent same-region clashes in the opening round, but later stages can feature regional rivalries.

🔹 Knockout Stage & Grand Final

The top eight move into a single-elimination best-of-five bracket. Teams with flawless Swiss records (3–0) get paired against those who barely scraped through (3–2). The last two standing will battle in Chengdu for the 2025 World Championship title.

What’s at Stake?

Beyond the $5 million prize pool, this year’s Worlds represents a historic turning point. With Fearless Draft shaking up strategies, fans can expect fresh champion pools, unexpected comps, and possibly the rise of a new dynasty.

As October 14 approaches, one question burns brighter than ever: which team will etch their name into League of Legends history?
