A week ago, Dota 2 fans learned the news that Russian player Evgeny “Chuvash” Makarov has already started coaching the new OG squad. To the Western public, Chuvash is an unknown player, but in Eastern Europe, he is well known, especially by those who understand the tier-2 scene.
It's not really a surprise!
Mister @Chuvash66 is now officially our Dota 2 coach, he has been operating with the team since the start of the DPC season.
He sees Dota in a very beautiful way and the boys love working with him.

How Chuvash met Misha
Evgeny “Chuvash” Makarov is a Russian professional player. He has played for various tier-2 stacks from Russia and Eastern Europe.
The formation of Chuvash as a professional player took place in 2016 in the team Comanche. The team became widely known due to the fact that it represented Russia at the WESG in 2016.
Roster of Comanche 2016
- Egor “Ark.” Zhabotinskii
- Igor “iLTW” Filatov
- Evgeny “XaKoH” Kochetov
- Evgeny “Chuvash” Makarov
- Mikhail “Misha” Agatov
As you can see, Misha and Chuvash met in this team for the first time. After that Mikhail and Evgeny became friends. By the way, Comanche didn’t have much success on the competitive scene, but they were widely known thanks to the support of fans on Twitter. They also have a well-known high-mmr streamer in their roster – XaKoH. The organization also could not last long and was disbanded at the end of 2017.
Of Comanche’s first lineup, only iLTW achieved notable success, making it to tier-1 teams. Igor first played for Team Spirit, then joined OG, where he played as a substitute for a long time. What happened after that, we know. He managed to play in Virtus.Pro and then got into Nigma. By the way, iLTW is still in good friendship with N0tail and Ceb.

But where were Misha and Chuvash all this time? Why no tier-1 organization still take them? It’s strange because the Russian-speaking Dota community has always talked about Misha as a skillful captain. Chuvash, meanwhile, continued to raise solo MMR and play on tier-2 teams actively.
In September 2018, Chuvash joined Natus Vincere. He spent almost a year with the yellow and black and even placed 2nd at DreamLeague Season 10. That was Minor in Stockholm. Na’Vi had a few good results at minor tournaments back then. However, they did not manage to show a good game even in the qualifications for Major tournaments. Because of this, the organization decided to disband the roster and let the players go. Chuvash went to free float.

By the way, Misha also played one tournament for Na’Vi as a substitute. Chuvash also played in that squad at the time. It was the GG.Bet Birmingham Invitational tournament. However, like Chu, Misha couldn’t find a tier-1 organization that would recognize his talents as a player and captain.
Chu and Creepwave
Many people think that Chu only got into the OG because of his friendship with Misha. Sebastian similarly recruited Sockshka as a coach and then as an assistant coach. Although the coaching role wasn’t that big for those OG, Sockshka did a lot of work with the team.
As for Chu, Misha wasn’t the only player who got to play with the new coach. Chu joined Creepwave in August 2021. Yes, yes, the same Creepwave where ATF and bzm played. Together they managed to win the qualifier for ESL One Fall. They finished 10th at that tournament, but winning qualification is already a good result for the mix. Then Creepwave won a small Dota 2 Champions League 2021 Season 4 tournament along with Chu. At that point, particularly attentive Dota 2 fans were already predicting a great future for the players from this team. Some expected that a large organization would take the squad under their wing after TI.
This once again proves that the appearance of Chu in OG is not a coincidence, because the players already knew each other well.
