Crystal Palace Defender Sidelined for Upcoming England Matches
Marc Guehi is set to miss England’s final two World Cup qualifiers after sustaining a foot injury during Crystal Palace’s Europa Conference League victory. The injury, described as a “heavy bone bruise”, has left the defender unable to walk, ruling him out of both upcoming fixtures.
Palace manager Oliver Glasner confirmed the severity of the injury ahead of their Premier League clash against Brighton. “Overnight he couldn’t sleep, it was so painful,” Glasner revealed. “The next day we assessed him, and it was a heavy bone bruise. He was walking on crutches the last two days and couldn’t even step on his foot.”
Guehi picked up the injury late in Palace’s 3-1 win over AZ Alkmaar on Thursday, after receiving a yellow card for a foul. Despite the setback, Glasner remained optimistic about the defender’s recovery. “Fortunately, nothing is broken,” he said. “But at the moment he can’t even walk. It looks like he will miss England’s games, but after, maybe in 10-14 days hopefully he can return to training and be available again.”
