Summit joined Cloud9 before the 2022 LCS Spring Split after a three-year stint at Liiv SANDBOX (formerly known as SANDBOX Gaming) in the LCK. Summit dominated the LCS as the highest performing top-laner in North America. Cloud9 finished the Spring Split with a 13-5 record, earning the second seed in the playoffs. With Summit’s consistent performance throughout the split, he earned Spring Split MVP and LCS All-Pro First Team honors. In the Spring Playoffs, Cloud9 would get swept by 100 Thieves in the upper bracket. Relegated to the lower bracket of the playoffs, Cloud9 would regain some of their form after their sweep against a weaker Golden Guardians roster, to lose to the eventual LCS Spring Champions Evil Geniuses 3-0. After the disappointing playoffs exit, Cloud9 would announce that Ibrahim “Fudge” Allami would return to the top lane, placing Summit on the transfer market.
FunPlus Pheonix entered the 2022 LPL Spring Split with high hopes after revamping its roster from the previous season. Despite the high expectations, FPX faltered during the regular season, barely making the playoffs with a disappointing 8-8 record, earning the last seed in the playoffs. FPX shocked nobody in the first round of the playoffs, losing 3-1 against the former World Champions Edward Gaming.
FPX sits at the bottom of the LPL table with a winless record. With Summit as their starting top-laner, FPX will be hoping that they can still salvage the Summer Split with a terrible 0-3 start. Summit will make his debut with FPX against Victory Five on Tuesday, June 21st.
