Branthwaite to Undergo Hamstring Surgery, Everton Confirm
Jarrad Branthwaite will have a hamstring operation and faces an extended spell on the sidelines, Everton have confirmed. The 23-year-old has not featured for David Moyes’ side this season after sustaining the injury in pre-season.
The issue was initially described as a ‘minor niggle’ in July. After a setback the club says surgery is now required.
“Following specialist consultation, it has been determined the defender will undergo a surgical procedure to address the issue.
Branthwaite will commence a structured rehabilitation programme under the supervision of the club’s medical team following the operation.”
The centre-back attracted summer interest from Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham before signing a new five-year contract with Everton.
Branthwaite began his career at Carlisle United. He has had loan spells at Blackburn Rovers and PSV Eindhoven, and was part of the PSV side that won the Dutch Cup in the 2022-23 season.
Everton say the club’s medical team will oversee a structured rehabilitation programme after the operation. No specific return date has been provided.
