Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez married on Tuesday in a private ceremony held in the Portuguese seaside resort of Cascais, confirmed the footballer’s representatives at the Brunswick Group.
The wedding marked a decade-long relationship and arrived after days of intense media speculation across Portugal about the location and timing. Ronaldo, 41, shared a photo on Instagram of the couple’s hands bearing wedding bands, captioning it simply: “C ❤️ G”. The couple’s five children were present at what representatives described as a “private and intimate” event.
One Year After the Engagement
The ceremony took place exactly one year after Rodriguez, a 32-year-old influencer, publicly announced their engagement on Instagram. Portuguese media had circulated competing theories about the venue, with Sintra outside Lisbon and Funchal on the island of Madeira — Ronaldo’s birthplace — both named as candidates. Reports pointing to Funchal drew hundreds of onlookers to the city’s cathedral last weekend. The cathedral had previously stated it had no wedding scheduled for Ronaldo, while noting that hosting the event would have been “an honour”.

Cascais: The Chosen Venue.
Cascais: The Chosen Venue
The couple settled on Cascais, an elite coastal resort approximately 30 kilometres west of Lisbon, where they own a villa. It is a fitting choice for two figures whose combined social media following exceeds 750 million across platforms, and whose public presence extends far beyond sport.
“A sense of peace and an inexplicable energy — as if we had known each other forever.” — Georgina Rodriguez, Vogue Arabia, 2025
Rodriguez made that remark in a 2025 Vogue Arabia interview, reflecting on the moment she met Ronaldo in 2016 while working at a Gucci store in Madrid. She has described it as love at first sight.
Careers and Combined Portfolio
Ronaldo currently plays for Saudi club Al Nassr. The former Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus forward is a five-time Ballon d’Or winner. He represented Portugal at this summer’s World Cup, where the side exited in the round of 16.
Rodriguez built her independent profile through the Netflix series I Am Georgina, which documents the family’s life across football, fashion, and travel. Together, the couple have developed a portfolio that includes fashion brands and a hotel chain — a commercial presence that rivals many corporate entities.
