Cristian Tello, the former Barcelona winger and La Masia graduate, has officially announced his retirement from professional football at age 35.

Tello made his announcement this week via Instagram, closing the chapter on a career that spanned six countries and 512 appearances. His final club was UAE side Palm City, which he joined last November after two years in the Saudi Pro League with Al Orobah and Al Fateh.

A Career Defined by Barcelona and Beyond

The peak of Tello’s career came at Barcelona, where he made 86 appearances for the Catalans, scored 20 goals, and collected La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup before leaving in 2014. Developed through the iconic La Masia academy, Tello embodied the technical style that defined that generation of Spanish football.

His post-Barcelona path took him across Europe and into the Middle East, accumulating experience at clubs across multiple leagues before finishing in the UAE.
