Chovy joined Gen.G before the start of the 2022 LCK Spring Season after departing Hanwha Life Esports. At Hanwha Life, Chovy led his team to the 2021 World Championship despite finished eighth in the Summer Split. Chovy and his team had to fight through the Regional Qualifiers, defeating Liiv SANDBOX and Nongshim Redforce, eventually losing to the LCK third seed T1. As the LCK fourth seed, Chovy led Hanwha Life through the play-ins and the group stage and made it to the quarter-finals of the World Championship, where he would, unfortunately, lose the rematch against T1 3-0.
At Gen.G, Chovy maintained his dominant form and finished as the second seed of the Spring Split, finishing with a record of 15-3. With this performance, Chovy was named to the 2nd All-Pro Team and finished second in the player of the game standings. Moving into the playoffs, Chovy and Gen.G managed to hold off DWG KIA in a thrilling five-game series and would lose to the undefeated T1 in the Grand Finals 3-1.
Chovy has been hailed as one of the most mechanically gifted mid-laners in LoL’s history ever since he debuted in 2018. With this contract extension, Chovy will remain in the LCK for another year, despite consecutive years of LPL interest in signing him during the offseason.
With Chovy signing the contract extension, Gen.G is now:
