The 2025/26 Champions League has whittled the field down to eight contenders. Following the conclusion of the Round of 16, the bracket for the quarter-finals is officially locked with elite matchups across the continent.
Spanish Giants Dominate Round of 16 Returns
Barcelona secured their place in the final eight with a commanding 7-2 victory over Newcastle at the Spotify Camp Nou. After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, Lamine Yamal orchestrated a dominant performance to ensure a 8-3 aggregate win. They now prepare for an all-Spanish clash against Atlético de Madrid, who managed to navigate a tense second leg against Tottenham. Despite a 3-2 defeat in London, Diego Simeone’s side advanced 7-5 on aggregate.
Real Madrid faced little resistance from Manchester City. A 2-1 win in the second leg capped off a 5-1 aggregate triumph, aided significantly by an early red card for Bernardo Silva that ended any English hopes of a comeback.
Continental Powerhouses Secure Progression
Bayern Munich continued their ruthless form against Atalanta, adding a 4-1 home win to their 6-1 first-leg advantage. Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal also cruised through. The Parisians dispatched Chelsea with an aggregate score of 8-2, while the Gunners defeated Bayer Leverkusen 3-1 over two legs.
Liverpool successfully overturned a first-leg deficit against Galatasaray. After losing in Istanbul, a 4-0 rout at Anfield restored order for the Premier League side. Meanwhile, Sporting CP produced the comeback of the round; after trailing 3-0 to Bodø/Glimt, they smashed five goals past the Norwegians in Lisbon to win 5-3 on aggregate.
