Arsenal vs PSG (29.04.2025)

Mikel Arteta’s squad have made it to the Champions League semi-finals – already a huge achievement for the Gunners, considering it’s their first time reaching this stage in over 15 years. But Arsenal aren’t planning to stop just one step away from the final. They’ve already beaten PSG 2-0 at home earlier in this tournament, which gives them a strong psychological boost ahead of the clash.
In the previous round, Arsenal destroyed Real Madrid with a 5-1 aggregate score, proving they’re having a powerful and consistent European season. Across 12 games, they’ve suffered only one narrow loss – to Inter. At home, they’ve only dropped points once, against PSV, in a game that had no real stakes. Squad issues remain: Jesus, Havertz, and key defender Gabriel are still sidelined through injury. Despite this, Arsenal maintain a high fighting spirit.

As for PSG, the Parisians are in great shape. They knocked out Liverpool – the tournament’s top favorite – along the way. Overall, PSG have faced English clubs six times this campaign, winning three and losing three. However, they’ve lost twice when playing away in England. It’s no secret Luis Enrique’s team performs much better at home at the Parc des Princes. There are no new injuries, but in Ligue 1, PSG’s main squad recently suffered a 1-3 loss to Nice – though to be fair, they’ve already secured the league title, and the Spanish coach is simply trying to keep his players match-fit.
Honestly, both teams have had their share of luck to reach this stage. Arsenal were helped massively by two stunning set-piece goals from Rice against Real Madrid, which demoralized Los Blancos. Scoring four without reply against a side strong on the flanks wasn’t easy either. PSG, on the other hand, only scraped past Aston Villa thanks to their dominant home performance – they completely flopped the second leg in England.

I’m confident the first leg will be a cautious, sizing-up affair. Of course, Arsenal will push to secure a comfortable result ahead of the return leg. I don’t think Arsenal lose at home, expecting a tight game and possibly both teams finding the net. However, if this scenario unfolds and PSG avoid a ‘Remontada 2.0’ in Paris, I believe Arsenal will struggle to hold them off in the second leg. That’s why I’m leaning towards PSG progressing to the final.

Barcelona vs Inter (30.04.2025)

Barcelona made a strong start to the knockout stages, defeating Benfica 4-1 on aggregate (1-0 at home and 3-1 away). In the quarter-finals, they faced Borussia Dortmund. The first leg ended with a commanding 4-0 win for the Catalans, but the second leg almost saw a comeback – Dortmund won 3-1. Despite the loss, Barça maintained possession superiority (54% vs 46%), though they trailed heavily on shots (7 vs 18). That game showed that even when controlling the match, Barcelona’s defense can be vulnerable.

In La Liga, the Blaugrana are still leading the race, though the title is far from secured – Real Madrid are hot on their heels and watching for every slip-up. Over the weekend, Barcelona lifted the Copa del Rey by beating their fierce rivals Real Madrid in the final. The fight for the domestic title is still alive, meaning Barça can’t afford to fully focus on their European campaign.
Inter Milan, meanwhile, started their playoff journey with a tough tie against Feyenoord, winning both legs (2-0 at home and 2-1 away). In the quarters, they faced an even tougher opponent – Bayern Munich. The first leg ended with a 2-1 away win for Inter, and the second leg finished 2-2, with all goals coming in the second half. These matches once again underlined Inter’s fighting spirit and their ability to turn games in their favor.

Given both teams’ current form and tactical setups, we can expect a tense, tightly contested match. Barcelona will look to maximize their home advantage, while Inter will try to impose their style. I don’t expect either team to run away with it, but my vote still goes to Barcelona to edge it.
