The 27-year-old played the full 90 minutes of Thursday’s 2-1 victory in Glasgow but appeared to be hurt late on. Manager Brendan Rodgers warned the club are braced for a lengthy lay-off.

“He looks like he’s done his Achilles, which could be anywhere between three and five months,” Rodgers told Sky Sports. “We just await confirmation of that. It’s not great news.”

“Cameron’s been a very important part of the squad, of course, and been a great centre-half for the club.”

Carter-Vickers has been a fixture in the Celtic defence since signing from Tottenham Hotspur in 2021 after a successful loan. He has made 172 appearances for the club.

On Thursday, centre-back partner Liam Scales scored Celtic’s equaliser. Dane Murray and Auston Trusty were named among the substitutes as defensive cover.

Celtic sit five points behind league leaders Hearts in the Scottish Premiership and travel to Tynecastle on Sunday, kick-off 12:00 GMT.
