This past Sunday the semifinals of the CBLOL Spring Split took place. KaBuM and Red Canids measured forces to see who would face PAIN Gaming on the 23rd of April at Riot Games studios in Sau Paulo for a chance at the title and an invitation for the 2022 MSI that will take place in Busan, South Korea.

Coming into the series KaBuM was seen as the favorite by most analysts and fans. After defeating Red Canids 3-0 in the first round of the playoffs, dominating the early game against the current CBLOL champions, and putting on a great performance overall, it’s easy to see why most people predicted KaBuM to advance to the finals.

However, this was a very different RED Canids, they were now playing like the team that won the 2021 CBLOL Summer Split and qualified for worlds. Titan and Jojo showed why they are the best bot lane in Brazil in the series against FURIA,  and the rest of the team stepped up and was now playing very well individually which was something that had hurt them at the beginning of the playoffs, especially against KaBuM.

We were in for a great series of League of Legends.

Game 1

12:20Finished10.04.2022

Both teams were able to get a good draft and one where they felt comfortable. With both teams having a great late game, the game would be decided by which team played out the team fights better if they got to the late stages of the game close in terms of gold.

RED Canids still had the slight advantage on this draft in my opinion since not only do they have the late game carries in Aphelios and Viktor, which KaBuM also has on GP and Jinx, but RED Canids have a much better front line with an Ornn and a Volibear. Making it easier for them to fight front to back.

Aegis was able to find the first blood on Parang, and RED Canids continued to play towards the top side of the map where they found a lot of success in the early game.

While KaBuM opted to focus on the bot side of the map, prioritizing the drakes and helping Disave and Scuro since the bot lane is the weakest lane individually for KaBuM.

Team fights, skirmishes, RED Canids were able to get the better of KaaBuM on both and opened a comfortable goal lead.

KaBuM answered with some great map plays, focusing on the side lanes, and being quick to punish RED Canids on cross-map plays.

Game one looked destined to end with a RED Canids win, but a risky baron play at the 23-minute mark, saw the current CBLOL champions get the Baron but being aced on the following team fight, which allowed KaBuM to open a 4k goal lead, and they were now on the driver seat.

After that, we saw team fights going back and forth, with neither team being able to get a decisive win.

The game was up for grabs, and despite KaBuM having the cloud soul, it was still very possible for RED Canids to take game one, it would all come down to a decisive team fight on Baron.

Instead of an epic team fight around the baron, RED Canids decided to burst the purple monster down but WIZ was able to flag and drag in steal the buff and then get back to safety with the Tresh lantern.

With the baron buff, KaBuM marched down to the bot side of the map, won the team fight, and stole a game 1 that was dominated by RED Canids for the majority of it.

Game 2

Game two saw RED Canids bring in the TF which gave more side lane pressure to the team, while still having the late game insurance of Jinx. As for KaBuM they had a great 1-3-1 comp with an Akali and GP, with Trundle and Leona making the front line.

Top side proved once again to be the lane of choice for Aegis first gank, and he once again found success getting the first blood unto Parang, however, this time WIZ was there for the counter gank and was able to kill Guigo making it a 1 for 1 trade.

This time it was RED Canids focusing more on the objectives, and playing for the Drakes win condition.

At the 15 minute mark, the game was dead even in gold, but Hauz was 3-0 on the Akali while Parang already had his first item on GP.

18 minutes into the game we saw the fight that changed the game. Soul point was up for grabs for the 2022 CBLOL Summer SPlit champions and KaBuM was almost forced to fight.

It was a really well-played fight by RED Canids, the team was able to protect its main carry Titan, and this one was able to hit the enemy team uncontested.

RED Canids was able to get control of the sidelines and opened a 4k goal lead. KaBuM would now wait for the last Drake to spawn and needed to win the team fight and secure the Drake in order to stay in the game.

The team fight was a replay of the previous one, with Titan once again unopposed was able to free hit on the KaBuM players. RED won the fight 5-0 and went on to secure the baron buff, it was only a matter of time until they closed out the game.

Titan closed his great game two performance with a pentakil and the series was now tied.

Game 3

The draft saw both teams going for late-game centered compositions with RED Canids having a great team fight composition, with a strong front line and many ways to engage. While KaBuM carries, Viktor and Jinx, outraged RED Canids but they didn’t had such a strong frontline.

First blood went the way of KaBuM once again on the top side, but the rest of the early game was dominated by RED Canids that had a 4k goal lead at the 15 minutes mark.

However, KaBuM was able to get back in the game after RED Canids forced a fight, and Parang with a great rumble ultimate secured two kills and two more assists.

Red Canids got to soul point a the 21 minutes mark but at the same time, KaBuM made a risky play, doing a two man sneaky baron that actually worked really well for them.

The game was now in a lol state, both teams were pushing the side lanes, trying to get vision and maybe a pick, but the next big fight was going to happen around the drake.

KaBuM was able to win the fight and denied the dragon soul for RED Canids.

It seemed like KaBuM was in control of the game, they were playing the side lanes correctly and winning every skirmish or team fight.

Another big team fight started now around the baron buff, both teams traded members but it was RED Canids who secured the buff after a great steal by Aegis.

They then marched down to the drake and got the mountain soul, KaBuM was now in an almost impossible position.

With another Baron on their back pocket, RED Canids marched to the enemy base and won game three.

Game 4

On the brink of being eliminated Parang picked up his best champion on Jayce, and WIZ picked the Lee Sin in order to have some more impact on the early game. As for RED Canids they choose to go with a engage team comp, with Malphite and Nocturne the pick potential was very strong, and it was also very easy for RED Canids to engage and initiate fights.

RED Canids found success on the top side of the map, and the first blood happened for the fourth time in four games on the top side. At the 15 minutes mark RED Canids had a small goal lead and was also leading on drakes.

With great execution on the team fights and being able to find picks with their Nocturne ultimate, RED Canids was in firm control of the game.

Team fight after team fight was going the way of RED Canids and the gold lead only increased. KaBuM was still able to find some picks and delay the game but they were in a very hard position since it was very hard for them to win a 5v5 team fight, especially if they had to face check into RED Canids composition.

After another team fight win this time on the baron, RED Canids marched down to the bot side.

KaBuM was still able to put on a valiant last stand but there was no stomping the well-oiled machine of RED Canids.

RED Canids now advances to the Grand Final where they will face PAIN Gaming on the 23rd of April.
