Bournemouth Sign Alex Toth from Ferencvaros
Bournemouth have completed the signing of Hungarian midfielder Alex Toth for a fee of £10.4m. The 20-year-old has joined the Cherries on a five-and-a-half-year contract, with the deal potentially rising to £13m due to add-ons and a 10% sell-on clause for Ferencvaros.
Toth, who has nine international caps, was also a target for Benfica, Galatasaray, and Lazio. His move to the Premier League marks a significant step in his career, having spent his entire club career in Hungary, including a loan spell at Soroksar during the 2023-24 season.
When I knew AFC Bournemouth were first interested in me, I was excited and happy because this is a good club in the Premier League, the best league in the world and the strongest league. The whole club, the whole structure is great.
Toth made his debut for Ferencvaros in December 2024 and has since made 52 appearances for the Hungarian champions, scoring four goals. His experience in European competitions adds depth to Bournemouth’s midfield options.
Bournemouth’s January Signings
Toth becomes Bournemouth’s third signing of the January transfer window, following the arrivals of goalkeeper Fraser Forster and defender Ade Solanke. The club’s head of football operations, Tiago Pinto, expressed enthusiasm about the new signing:
He has come from a club that is used to competing at the highest level in Hungary, while also featuring in Europe, so we’re excited about what he can bring to us in Bournemouth as he continues to develop further under the coaching of Andoni [Iraola].
