Nations League Betting Tips: 6 Expert Picks — 05-06 October

The Nations League group stage rolls on across 05 and 06 October, with top spot still open in more than one quartet and the bottom sides running out of road. There are six predictions in this batch, and the prices stretch from a short 1.47 all the way up to 4.10 on one alternative market, so an odds converter is handy if you prefer fractional or American formats. TipsGG publishes free football predictions with pre-match odds for the Nations League and the other competitions running alongside it. Three analysts share the workload here: Sports Data Manager Oleksandr Vaskov, TipsGG Sports & Esports Expert Oleksii Svyrydov and Sports Data Manager Oleksandr Halian, and between them they reach for handicaps, goal lines, card totals and even a foul count. With most of these sides meeting for the second time in the campaign, familiarity counts for as much as form in this set of football betting tips.

Italy vs Turkey Prediction

3ItalyItaly
1TurkeyTurkey

Italy have recovered from the defeat by Belgium and shown clear progress. An unexpectedly convincing away win over Turkey was followed by a creditable draw with France — 1:1. In terms of chances created, Roberto Mancini‘s side were a match for the star-studded French attack. Ahead of the home meeting with the Turks, the Italians have every chance of fighting for second place in their Nations League group. But they need to shake off the draw syndrome that has been following the national team in Bologna.

Turkey suffered a second heavy defeat in the competition, losing by three goals to Belgium after being taken apart by Italy. Vincenzo Montella is still in his job, keeping his composure and his psychological approach. But how much is that helping the players right now? The squad is already short of bodies through the injuries to Hakan Calhanoglu and Kenan Yildiz, and now Arda Guler is suspended after picking up too many yellow cards. The defence has been failing regularly, too.

Oleksandr Vaskov - Sports Data Manager

It would be very strange if Italy failed to use home advantage, so this is the match where I believe in the Italians, and I will add a bet on total fouls.

Prediction: Italy to win at odds of 1.47

Alternative prediction: Total fouls over 24.5 at odds of 1.75

France vs Belgium Betting Tips

1BelgiumBelgium

France under Zinedine Zidane have eased off slightly, dropping their first points against Italy (1:1). Although Les Bleus traditionally had the better of possession and chances created, a loose touch from Cunha allowed Alessandro Bastoni to level the scoreboard, and the late dismissal of Dayot Upamecano almost cost them the game. After a fairly bright World Cup under Didier Deschamps, it looks as though France are returning to their “factory settings” — pragmatic, level-headed football, albeit now under Zizou. In three rounds the French have scored three goals, mostly thanks to individual moments from their attacking stars, while the collective play still looks rather dim.

The Belgians dismantled Turkey (3:0). The main star of the night was Kevin De Bruyne, who scored twice in his 82 minutes on the pitch and completely controlled the tempo, dominating the central zone. Romelu Lukaku made good use of the time he was given, scoring 15 minutes after coming on by finishing a cross from the flank. The team look free-flowing going forward, even if they let opponents trouble goalkeeper Lammens (the Turks managed as many as 23 shots at his goal without finding a way through).

In the second round France beat Belgium away from home (1:0) thanks to a quick run from Michael Olise and another successful effort from distance. Les Bleus dictated terms in that game, even if creating dangerous moments was hard work.

Oleksii Svyrydov - TipsGG Sports & Esports Expert

This game will be the key battle for outright leadership of the quartet. Despite the pragmatic football of the hosts, I think this match will produce goals. The Belgians have problems at the back, but their main trump card remains a brilliant attack. The French, for their part, have lost Upamecano and will also put their faith in attacking play.

Prediction: Total goals in the match over 3 – 1.77

Northern Ireland vs Georgia Odds & Pick

0Northern IrelandNorthern Ireland
0GeorgiaGeorgia

At Windsor Park in Belfast, the surprise group leaders host the weakest team in the quartet after three rounds.

For Michael O’Neill‘s players it all started with an unexpected win against Georgia, where the decisive goal was snatched in added time. After that came a goalless draw with the Hungarians and a sensational thrashing of Ukraine (3:0).

While the Irish are substantially exceeding expert expectations, the Georgians are currently playing below their own potential. The magic of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia does not work for the national team the way it does at PSG. Most of the players feature in top European leagues, but that immediately highlights a weakness as well — almost every one of them represents a different club. In the squad for the last match against Northern Ireland there were only two players from the same team (Sturm Graz), and both started on the bench. So it is still difficult to talk about cohesion among these strong-willed Georgians.

Oleksandr Halian - Sports Data Manager

It is hard to call the win in Tbilisi a natural result for the Northern Irish. At the same time, subsequent results tip the scales in favour of the hosts of this match. Only two defeats, both by a single goal, in their last ten official home games simply confirm that the Green and White Army are the favourites here. I suggest playing it safe with a zero handicap on the hosts, and as an alternative you can consider them avoiding defeat combined with a low total.

Prediction: Northern Ireland handicap (0) – 1.67

Alternative prediction: Northern Ireland not to lose (1X) and total match goals under 2.5 – 1.99

Ukraine vs Hungary Preview

The Ukraine national team come into this important fixture in a catastrophic state: the crushing defeat by Northern Ireland (0:3) not only exposed problems in building attacks but also knocked out key performers. The personnel losses before the match are significant — Mykola Matviyenko and Danylo Sikan will miss the game through suspension, while Heorhiy Sudakov picked up an injury; on top of that, Mykola Shaparenko, Bohdan Mykhaylichenko and Oleksandr Zubkov did not take part in training before the final match. Andrea Maldera‘s coaching staff have virtually no room to manoeuvre in a defensive line that already made a series of comical errors last round.

The Hungarians, by contrast, caught an emotional lift after a narrow but thoroughly convincing win over Georgia (1:0). The team showed impressive aggression in attack, registering 24 shots at the opposition goal. Dominik Szoboszlai was again the chief conductor of their attacks, and defender Milos Kerkez got on the scoresheet. That victory levelled Hungary with Ukraine on points (four apiece), significantly improving their position in the group.

In the opening round Ukraine edged Hungary (1:0) after an even game up to the goal, then handed the initiative entirely to their opponents and spent a lot of energy protecting the result.

Oleksii Svyrydov - TipsGG Sports & Esports Expert

In this match I would pay attention to the yellow card market. The referee is Croatian Igor Pajac, who averages more than four yellow cards per game. Given the personnel losses, the general fatigue of the players after three draining rounds and the electric atmosphere that reigned in the first game, it is quite likely that we will see plenty of bookings, and possibly even a red card.

Main prediction: Total yellow cards over 4.5 – odds of 1.80

Alternative prediction: Total red cards over 0.5 – odds of 4.10

England vs Czechia Match Tips

0Czech RepublicCzech Republic

At the legendary Wembley in London, England host a Czech side with nothing left to lose. Thomas Tuchel‘s players arrive in high spirits after a stunning performance in Rijeka last round, where they put seven goals past Croatia without reply (7:0).

The Three Lions are in excellent shape, combining impressive scoring with aggressive pressing. England’s leaders are in outstanding form, and the variety in attack allows them to keep a furious tempo from the first whistle to the last.

Czechia currently look like the clear outsiders of the quartet and remain one of the three worst teams in the elite division. The side coached by Spanish specialist Santi Denia have lost each of their first three matches and are still without a point.

Despite some decent spells of football against Spain (1:3), the Czechs are desperately short of discipline in key moments and of reliability at the back. An away game against an angry England team aiming for first place in the group will be another test, and one that will be extremely hard to survive under the pressure of Wembley.

Oleksandr Halian - Sports Data Manager

England are on a completely different level right now in terms of dynamics and execution. After destroying the Croats, Tuchel’s players will not ease off and will try to take the fight for first place in the group to the Spanish. The Czechs, who keep making mistakes around their own goal, will not manage to contain the hosts’ powerful attacking force. In fact, Czechia have nothing to lose; the team is in a fairly difficult situation — plenty of young players in the squad and quite frequent coaching changes recently do not promise anything good in this Nations League campaign. In the circumstances, the goals over line looks an attractive option.

Prediction: Total goals in the match over 3.5 – 1.96

Croatia vs Spain Prediction

14:45Finished06.10.2026
1CroatiaCroatia
2SpainSpain

Croatia lost away to Spain 1:4, but that was the lesser of their troubles. The worst came at home — 0:7 against England. The Croats will try to atone for that shameful defeat in front of their supporters in the return match with Spain, but doing so will be incredibly difficult. First, there is the psychological aspect. Second, Croatia have shown that playing against the big nations has not been easy for them lately.

Spain finished the first set of Nations League fixtures with three wins, sitting confidently in first place in the group. The scoring output of Luis de la Fuente‘s team is at a high level, but there is a slight loss of focus at the back: in three matches Spain have conceded four times as many goals as they did in eight matches at the 2026 World Cup.

Oleksandr Vaskov - Sports Data Manager

I expect Croatia to be very bold, but Spain will take another three points; still, let us play it safe and take La Roja to avoid defeat.

Prediction: Both teams to score and Spain not to lose at odds of 1.96

Five of the six main selections sit between 1.47 and 1.96, which says plenty about how clearly the analysts see the favourites in this round, with the 4.10 red card market in Belfast’s group rival fixture the one genuine outsider price. Anyone combining the shorter prices can run the numbers through our free bet calculator to see what the potential returns on these selections look like. Each pick is listed with the market exactly as the analyst published it.
