Bellingham and Foden Return to England Squad for World Cup Qualifiers

07.11.2025, 07:24

Bellingham and Foden Recalled for Serbia and Albania Clash

Thomas Tuchel has called up Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden for England’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania. The squad also welcomes Alex Scott, a first-time senior call-up for the Bournemouth midfielder.

Tuchel resisted including Danny Welbeck and left out Jack Grealish and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Bellingham, recovering from shoulder surgery, and Foden, absent from the last three squads, return after notable omissions.

England secured their spot in the 2026 World Cup with a dominant win over Latvia last month. They face Serbia on November 13 and Albania on November 16 in their final Group K matches before next summer’s tournament in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

Scott’s Rise and Squad Changes

Alex Scott, 22, was part of England’s victorious Under-21 European Championship team this summer. He has been a standout in Bournemouth‘s Premier League campaign, featuring in all 10 matches and scoring once as they sit fifth in the table.

Returning to the squad are Nick Pope, Nico O’Reilly, and Adam Wharton. Dropped from the last break are Morgan Gibbs-White, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, James Trafford, and Ollie Watkins.

Tuchel will discuss his squad at a news conference on Friday at 11:00 GMT.

Bellingham and Foden’s Comeback

Bellingham’s return follows his omission in October, despite his desire to play. Tuchel had previously apologized for calling the midfielder’s behavior “repulsive.” Foden, showing improved form for Manchester City, returns after scoring twice in a 4-1 Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund.
