Athletic Bilbao Appoint Edin Terzic as Head Coach Through 2028
Athletic Bilbao announced the appointment of Edin Terzic as head coach on Tuesday, securing the German manager on a contract through 2028. The 43-year-old replaces Ernesto Valverde at the LaLiga club, which currently sits eighth in the Spanish league standings.
Terzic arrives with extensive experience in high-intensity, attacking football. His most recent role came at Borussia Dortmund, where he delivered a German Cup title in 2021 and guided the club to the Champions League final in 2024. Real Madrid defeated Dortmund 2-0 in that final.
The manager departed Dortmund at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season and has been without a club position since.
Terzic’s Track Record
Terzic’s appointment signals Athletic Bilbao‘s commitment to implementing a dynamic offensive system. His philosophy centers on pressing tactics and rapid transitions, hallmarks evident during his tenure in the Bundesliga.
The German manager’s ability to compete at Europe’s highest level, demonstrated through his Champions League final appearance, brings fresh credentials to the Basque outfit as they seek to climb the La Liga table.
