Aston Villa Win CAS Appeal to Register Teenage Forward Brian Madjo

Aston Villa have been cleared to register forward Brian Madjo for official competitions after the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld their appeal against a FIFA block on the 17-year-old, who joined from Metz in January.

FIFA’s regulations restrict the international transfer of players under 18, and the governing body blocked Madjo’s registration by classifying him as a Luxembourg international. The six-foot-four striker had represented Luxembourg three times before switching allegiance to England’s Under-17s. Villa challenged that ruling at CAS, citing Madjo’s English birth and UK citizenship, and the court ruled in their favour.

The club confirmed the outcome on X:

“The court’s decision today means that Brian will be registered as an Aston Villa player and eligible to play in official competition matches for the forthcoming season.”

Madjo, signed for £10 million ($13.44 million), has wasted no time making an impression in pre-season. He has scored four goals so far, including two against Walsall in Villa’s opening friendly.
