CCT North Europe Series 4 is an online B-Tier tournament where 24 european teams will fight each other pursuing a 50.000 dollar prize pool, this tournament will take place in March, beginning in the first day of March. Remembering that the winners from Series 3 were Astralis after taking down Aurora Gaming 2-1 in the Grand finals, ENCE Gaming and Entropiq were also winners from this tournament. Now, who will be the winner from Series 4?
Out of the 24 teams that will play in this tournament, 20 were invited teams, out of those 20 invited teams, 8 are high seed teams, which means that they are theoretically better, and they usually only entered at the second stage of the tournament, but the other 12 teams were invited from the organization of the tournament. However, 4 teams came from the closed qualifier for this tournament.
In this closed qualifier, we had 16 teams in total, 12 invited teams: Anonymo Esports, Astralis Talent, EC Brugge, ECTSATIC, GenOne, JANO Esports, LetUsCook, Mouz NXT, MASONIC, Mixfits, Turow and Websterz. And we also had 4 teams coming from the open qualifier, Sashi Esports, Top5, Apeks Rebels and En av lette. It was a single open qualifier, featuring 56 teams, that went head to head in a single elimination bracket, with all matches being BO1, but the qualification matches were BO3, meaning that only 4 qualification matches we had, because 4 teams got qualified into the closed qualifier. In the closed qualifier, we had 2 stages, the group stage and the playoffs stage. In the group stage all 16 teams participated, and were divided in 4 groups with 4 teams each, in a double elimination format, and all matches were BO3, with top 2 teams advancing into the playoffs stage. In each group, we had a single team from open qualifier, and the first 2 matches were the opening matches, and the winners from the opening matches faced each other in the winner´s match, and the winner from that match was the group stage winner and the first team advancing into the playoffs stage, and will have a slight advantage. However, on the other hand, the losers from opening matches, also faced each other in the elimination´s match, and the loser from the match, got fourth placed in the group and was the first team of the group getting eliminated. The winner from the elimination match and the loser from the winner´s match also faced each other on an all or nothing decider match, that will decide, which team will go through the playoffs, and be second placed in the group stage, and which team will get also eliminated and get third placed in the group. The top 2 teams from each group, meaning 8 etams at total advanced into the playoffs stage.
In the playoffs stage, every team that got first placed in the group, faced a team that got second placed in the group randomly, and we have here on the playoffs, a single elimination bracket with all matches being BO3, but no second chances allowed, you lose, you are out of the competition. And we had 4 single BO3 matches, and the winners from those 4 matches were the teams advancing into CCT North Europe Series 4.
When it comes to the main event from this tournament, this tournament is also divided in 2 stages, the group stage and the playoffs stage, with the group stage being a 16 team swiss format group, with all matches being BO3, and only the invited teams and the closed qualified teams will participate in this stage, the 8 invited high seed teams will skip this part of the tournament and will only play at the playoffs stage. The 16 teams will go on the group stage on a 5 round of matches, 3 wins will get you into the playoffs, and 3 losses will get you elimination, and only the top 8 teams will go through the playoffs.
